[SP24] Hanami Day

🌸 Spring blossomed with joy as SFU JN members came together for a series of fun, interactive games at our spring picnic event—Hanami Day! 🌱 ✨ Hanami (花見) is a Japanese word for “flower viewing”, which a traditional Japanese custom of enjoying the beauty of flowers, particularly cherry blossoms. It involves picnicking under cherry blossom trees, as well as socializing with friends over food and drinks. To celebrate the arrival of spring and the beauty of cherry blossoms, we gathered on April 5th, for a delightful day of Hanami, creating cherished memories under the blooming trees. 🌸🍃

As it was also around the time of Easter, we started the event by playing Egg hunting. The executive members hid several eggs around the park prior to the event, and the attendees’ goal was to find all the hidden eggs—as each of them had different points, the key was to find eggs with higher points before anyone else did! 🐰🥚🌷 Next, we played the Daruma-san Game, which was a Japanese tagging game.

After a series of fun games & announcing winners, we enjoyed the flowers while having Japanese dishes, pizzas, and snacks under the cherry blossom tree. 🍱 🍘

As the sun set and the flower petals flew around, the air was filled with laughter and joy. Until next year’s Hanami Day, stay tuned for more upcoming picnics in Summer & Fall! Let us know via Instagram @sfu_jn to share your favorite picnic spots for our possible next event.. 🧺👀
